Geospatial Processors support the creation of geospatial products from a range of datasets, including LiDAR, imagery, and asset information. The role involves following established workflows to produce accurate, fit-for-purpose outputs across remote sensing, mapping, classification, spatial modelling, asset records, and PLS-CADD processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Geospatial Processors carry out workflows that may span the three disciplines. Typical duties may include:
Remote sensing workflows
- Producing spatially aligned geospatial datasets for specified areas of interest, including both corridor and wide-area datasets.
- Using image processing and enhancement techniques to improve the visual quality of imagery products.
- Assessing and reporting on the spatial accuracy of processed products.
- Transforming datasets according to project requirements, under guidance.
- Generating and compiling metadata using existing templates in a clear, concise, and technically accurate manner.
Mapping, classification, spatial modelling and asset record workflows
- Classifying LiDAR datasets using a range of contextual data sources and specified schemas.
- Producing topographic maps from LiDAR and imagery datasets to specified schemas and mapping scales.
- Creating LiDAR-derived spatial modelling products according to defined parameters.
- Processing and presenting asset imagery according to client requirements.
- Importing data into PLS-CADD ready for modelling.
- Carrying out quality control checks on completed outputs.
PLS-CADD workflows
- Modelling transmission lines within the PLS-CADD environment to provided specifications.
- Producing staking tables and PI reports for use in meteorological data, forward-looking imagery, and temperature calculations.
- Producing meteorological data and temperature calculations using predefined templates.
- Conducting simple transmission and distribution asset assessments against defined criteria.
- Carrying out quality control checks on completed outputs.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree-level qualification, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline.
- Alternatively, strong A-Level and/or GCSE qualifications, with an aptitude for working with spatial datasets and software packages.
- A good work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Working knowledge of standard software packages, including MicroStation, TerraSolid suite, PLS-CADD, Global Mapper, ArcGIS, and Excel.
- Awareness of common sensors, including aerial LiDAR and imaging systems, terrestrial survey instruments, and their practical applications.
- Awareness of geodetic concepts such as datums, projections, units, and coordinate systems.
- A basic understanding of transmission and distribution line concepts, including the ability to differentiate between different classes of conductors, towers, and other features.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to follow established workflows accurately.
