NM Group have been awarded a three year framework contract to deliver a range of asset management activities on the National Grid electricity transmission network. This award follows 8 years of previous success providing 3D modeling and asset management services using Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology and PLS-CADD engineering software.   NM Group CEO Kevin Jacobs commented: ‘we are delighted that National Grid has come to us again based on our previous work record and contract performance. We look forward to further collaboration with National Grid as we introduce the recent developments from our R&D enterprise and bring new innovations to assist with real-time capacity monitoring, vegetation management and 3D substations for cost-effective component upgrade instead of total replacement’.   National Grid sees value in monitoring the network using this technology approach as it offers a proven route to enhancing safety, reliability and capacity. The main benefit is the use of accurate and objective remote sensing methods to determine how much electricity can be transmitted down each circuit at a given point in time.   NM Group is a specialist service provider of asset management, surveying and mapping solutions to sectors including energy transmission and distribution and road and rail transport. Applying a range of remote sensing and geospatial technologies, the company offers a full range of services from data acquisition through to analytics and web applications for wider access to information.   For more information on our services for transmission utilities click here
