NM Group supports local charity’s urban beach

We are truly proud to be associated with Henshaws, a charity supporting people living with sight loss and a range of other disabilities, by contributing to their campaign to fund their urban beach, enjoyed by the local community each summer.

We are an international company, with offices in the US, Canada and Australia and a genuinely global reach. Yet our head office, where the majority of our staff are based, is in Knaresborough in North Yorkshire, UK, and has been since the company was founded in 2007. Many of our staff live in and around Knaresborough and, as an organisation, we have strong links with the local community.

Each year, Knaresborough holds an annual Festival of Entertainment and Visual Arts (feva). As part of this, Henshaws builds a beach at its arts and crafts centre located in the town, where children enjoy live music, face painting and other arts and crafts and parents a beach cocktail or two! Lacking funds this year, a crowd funder campaign was started, to ensure the summer must-do activity was open to the public.

Alongside our donation, more than 50 residents and businesses came together to support Henshaws. As a result, the urban beach will return to feva, Henshaws and the Knaresborough community.

Kevin Jacobs, our CEO, said “NM Group have been based in Knaresborough for more than ten years. We are part of the local community here and believe it is important to support charities that work in the area. Therefore, we are proud to help ensure this amazing facility remains open to the public”.

Sarah-Jane Martin, corporate fundraising manager for Henshaws said “We’re so grateful to NM Group for supporting us; as a small charity it’s great to see an international company helping us out and keeping the beach at the heart of summer in Knaresborough.”

Henshaws run workshops helping people living with a range of disabilities discover their talents, put them into practice and realise their full potential. If you’re anywhere in the north of England this summer, pay a visit to the urban beach to support the charity and enjoy a little bit of beach fun.
