New geospatial strategy to increase network efficiency

Posted

A number of new geospatial technologies have become available to electricity network operators in recent years. Ontario based utility, Hydro One, an existing user of LiDAR and imaging data for engineering analysis were interested in exploring the benefit of these new developments.

In particular, our client wanted to understand how geospatial applications could be applied to the wider organization. The overall objective being to form a new geospatial strategy that would boost efficiency and further increase system reliability.

The utility commissioned NM Group to deliver analysis and reporting that would offer value across a range of different business areas. These areas included vegetation management, asset management and engineering.
